Publication Commentary — Formed In My Mother’s Womb

by Mel M Walters

Our parent(s)/Guardian prayers

If we can remember as far as we can, even today, before we reached adulthood, we can recall the number of times our parents prayed for us. It was during those times we probably did or didn't understand what they were praying about or grasp the magnitude or depth of their zeal to pray. We can probably admit that during those wee hours of the morning, we would've preferred to hug our pillows tighter as our parents' resounding voice carried past the closed door. Their words, rather than the context of what they said, pried our eyes open, and we had to just crawl from the bed and head to prayer meeting. It is as we get older and begin to pray just like our parents we hold to the altar and give God thanks for our parents' prayers.

PRAYER TIME AND THE PRAYER ALTAR

Establishing prayer devotions and having a prayer altar in our home is one of the greatest securities we can provide for our children and the future generation. Prayer in and of itself is powerful, and when we pray in faith, it keeps us grounded, and we have the anchoring we need to know we are not doing life alone, because Jesus is with our children and us.

The essence of prayer comes from what Jesus taught his disciples, when he said "Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come."

In each prayer, Formed In My Mother's Womb, begins with that same reverence and acknowledgement. It is key that our children gain strength and confidence when they are aware and know who they are talking to when they pray and when we pray with them.

Mel M. Walters has poured her heart and prayers into this project, and we are finally able to celebrate its upcoming release in early 2027. Sample reads can be found in our Authors Speak E-Magazine here
